HP CD-Writer Software Disk 1 for the 7100i, what's on it and can I download it from somewhere?

Hello,

A friend is having trouble with a HP 7100i (2x1x8). There are some misc. utilites (which I have downloaded) that you can download from HP to help diagnose you drive but they require that the HP Software be installed i.e. software disk 1.

Unfortunately, he bought this drive used a year ago and the fellow did not have the installation disks.:frown:

The problems I think are due to VIA drivers and general system problems. But previously, the drive was hooked up to a BM6 as secondary master. He couldn't seem to burn successfully. However, I believe the drive works since I was able to get it to come a test successfully before the VIA driver headache. Now it takes Nero or EZCD forever to load.

Does anyone know where I can download software disk 1? I haven't been able to find it anywhere on the HP site. I have also tried Google, NorthernLight and Raging searches and came up blank. I am not asking for CDRW writing software i.e. EZCD but just the installation disk that contains I believe contains the dos drives and other setup things.

Thanks for all your help.

Paul
