I heard that HP isn't as reliable as Plextor bot Plextor has slow accses time (288 ms - Slow, isn't it?)

I need to decide in the next 30-60 min so please reply 🙂

any experiance with those drives would be appriseated - thanks!

All I can tell you is that I have the HP 9110, and it lives up to all my expectations. It works well under Nero and Clone CD. I've burnt 50+ CDs including copies of music CDs, Playstation, and my own mp3 compilations. I definately recommend the HP, but I hear that Plextor makes a very good unit as well.

Get which ever is cheaper. I've had an HP drive and it was great for me. They are both excellent drives and you can't go wrong with either.

You answered your own question. If you want a reliable drive, go Plextor, if not go HP. Access time is irrelevant unless you plan to use the drive as your primary cdrom drive.

Do you have the cure for cancer and you need to right it to CD so you don't lose it? What's so urgent about a CDR drive?

I have the Plextor 8x20 and have been very satisfied... I really don't think you will go wrong with Plextor. The only trouble I have is with cd's with copy gaurd. But that is only pertaing to the software you choose to run the drive.. Good Luck!🙂

Plextor always come highly recommended. I have had two HP's and have had no problems with them either. Either one would be a good choice.

Yeah forget the 8x4x32, get the 12x10x32. I've never even seen a cdrw that can do RW at 10x, and plus it's a plextor. Plextor's read anything, they are great. If you can find a good price ont he 12x10x32, don't hesitate to get it. I've seen this cdrw in action and it is very very good.

I just got mine yesterday after ordering it on Monday. I didn't expect to see it for weeks, because my last 2 orders to onvia took weeks. I think they finally got it together. 😀

Every single time a Cdrw "brand X vs plextor", 80% of the people say get a plextor. It rocks. It kicks ass.

Can we stop asking this question? I swear I hear it every week. If Plextor wasn't know as the best Cdrw maker in the biz, I might not care, but I've yet to hear a group of people recommend something over a plextor in ages.

Tell you what, when plextor starts sucking, I'll make sure NSF4 posts it in the news section.

i think its gonna be a while before plextor starts sucking ass... I mean, they first made the best SCSI cdr's, nwo they make the best, bar none, IDE cdr/rw drives. 🙂.

Thank you all for replying 😉

But I see many peope on similer treads that tend go with the statement that the kick-ass-plextor-is-so-good-that-it-is-a-waste-of-time-to-even-think-about-any-other-brand 🙂

Altough this line of thought may very well be good, correct and true (I don't have a CD-RW... so I can't judge on this matter and I need your help 🙂)

Is the Plextor is all it is cracked-up to be or he is on par with other CD-RW burners out there

Don't get me wrong... - It is CHEAPER to me to go and buy the PlexWriter 8v4x32 then to go and buy the HP 9100i

I would like to know what exactly makes the plextor so good 😉

any expiriences from people who have/had them both or seen/worked with them (not nessesary both of them...) - PLEASE be so kind and drop a line ...

I have had both a Plextor and currently a HP9100. Plextor seems to have better quality control in the manufactor process and the rma rate for Plextor is very low. HP has some quality control issues with there drives. Plextor has a better software bundle supplied with the drives when HP just packages EZCD creator 3.5 with there burner and alot of useless software with it. My current HP works flawless and works with any burner software installed on it and it does 80min cd,s even if they claim they dont support it, It works on the Hp9100. there just saying that if your burner makes alot of coasters using 80 min cd's there not going to rma the drive for you. I would just get the cheapest over the two because they are both good burners.

excuse me for asking, but why did you replaced your Plextor with an HP? Was it an 'old' Plextor and you bought an new & faster HP instead or you replaced your Plextor with an HP becouse of another reason? (breakdown, other problems...)

Thanks
