I have a HP CD Writer 9100i and its been working fine for about 5 months then today in the middle of a CD it stopped and gave me an error report (something about power, damn should have written it down) anyway It takes minutes to recognise and Original CD, and just assumes all other CD's are blank, i have WIN98SE, I have tried reinstalling the software to no effect, I dont have a windows disk (I bought the comp 2nd hand) and it wont recognise any of my backup Cd's or anything, anybody got any Ideas? Oh yeah one diagnose thing just comes up with some numbers and the other one mentioned something about the ASPI layer maybe being corrupted?

I have updated the ASPI layer and tried removing the Cd from the settings/System list and alowing windows to detect it, but It still cant read copied CD's and takes minutes to recognise an Original, Anybody got any other ideas?

PLEASE HELP!!! I have done a search and looked through loads of solutions but to no avail. I have deleted old Cd's from the registry, removed it from the devices, etc. It is recognised when booting up and it says its working properly in devices, but just isn't working. I have a Jetway J-530BF mobo. PLEASE HELP!!!!
