HP 952c and 2400x1200 photo quality...

I've had my printer for about a year now and haven't attempted burning ink on photos. Adjusting the settings, I noticed that the maximum resolution according to the print manager is 1200dpi. I can go into advanced options and turn on 2400x1200 Photo mode, but the highest I can go with graphic print quality is still 1200x1200dpi. With the settings this high, Photoshop still states that I'm printing at a max resolution of 1200dpi. Is there any way to enable 2400dpi or does enabling photo mode adjust the resolution. I'm running WinXP and have the latest drivers from HP.
