I am not real up-to-date on cdrws, but I know hp is a good brand.

think this is a good deal?

---edit----
it is internal and and I belive the software would effect the ability to backup read only and hidden files because all the cd writer does is change the color of the die (or bend the materal if cdrw).

Is this external (doubt it)

Better off gettting a Plextor, if you ask me...

Here we go again.

HP CDRW drives are consistently among the highest rated. Point to a review saying they're poor, and I'll believe they suck.

I have been totaly satisfied with my HP 9100i. I can continue to burn while I surf or do most anything else without any hiccuups.

I have an HP 9350i (10x). I have had no problems whatsoever. It burns whatever I throw at it.
