I got an email from them. It's out of stock and ask if I need a substitute like HP 9150i at the price of $199. Had to cancel the order!

I got an email confirmation on this drive right after I ordered it. Went to check the order status this morning and the item was highlighted in red (not available). I jumped on this deal the MINUTE it showed up on this site. And to top it off, I got a call from a rep this morning that my Iomega 12x4x32 drive for $120 is out of stock and has been scratched. THIS SUCKS!

For whom ordered it and find one in your local store:

Print your order history on their website, show it to your local store. They can pricematch it at least. The coupon - depends on your luck. For $70, that's not bad, right?

Got mine, ROCKS !!!

It's in the top 5 in Oct. PCworld.

I can't believe it it's in the clearance.

One more tip for staple, always check your local store, don't wait on those hotdeal - they want them by themselves, why not $40 for 9110i.

Good luck for all!

RightHere: Thanks for the heads up on the 8 series coupons, gonna try to use that $15 if they won't match the online price and see if I can at least get it down from that $99 before the rebate.

macssuck: No, I had left it at home but the store had net access and I offered to pull up my order for them but the sales guy said he believed me so they just changed the price at checkout. Today I have my order printout and will try again, but I will NEVER order from staples again, I have now experienced their customer service and understand why everyone says they suck...

The HP 9110i from Staples ($50 or under after rebate). I ordered mine with a $0.70 Sharpie pen to write on CD-R's. Also got me over $100 for $30 coupon.

I ordered one in Seattle on Sunday morning (6:00am). No confirmation email, but 6 hours after ordering I got email from CSR saying that the store would have to special order it and it would take "up to 2 weeks" but that my order was accepted and I would have to let them know if to cancel it. Then Monday I get a phone call saying that they were oversold and that mine was canceled.

I had my father in Indiana order one Sunday morning... he got NO confirmation, no phone calls, no email or contact of any kind.

Then today we BOTH get the Sharpie pen in the mail from UPS :)

I have my order number from the Sunday email. I can go to Staples Package Track Web Site and it shows that my order is still being processed (no cancel mentioned, even today).

Anyone else in same situation?

Mine is unavailable even though I ordered early, so I told em to scrap the order...they already shipped my $.50 pen via UPS, so now I get to refuse delivery on that....

Well, I guess I got screwed. I order on 11/26/00. Got my confirmation in less than an hour. And today at about 1:00pm 11/28/00. Staples called me and told me that when they went to the shelf to grab it. They ran out. Bummer! :(
On top on everything the rubberband that I ordered with the HP9110i came today. :(

Damn Staples!

I received mine this morning. Brand new, with HP seal. A guy in a pickup truck hand delivered the drive and one hour later a UPS delivery truck brought a really big box with the 16 cent paper clips. I guess the paper clips are kept in a central warehouse!

well who cares. I got the drive. Now i have to make room for it in the tower case...

There was no receipt with the drive. I hope they will mail it separatedly. I need it for the rebate deal.

There may be hope yet!!!! I recieved a call from a staples lead csr just as I was walking out the door to pick up that 9110i from my local store. I explained the problems I had with this order, the multiple calls and no confirmation, and that this was my first order from them and I was *NOT* happy at all. The lead said there was a comparable drive available, the hp9150i and that she would make it the same price. I played stupid and said that would be just fine, and complimented her on her willingness to make her customers happy. She laughed and tommorow I will have a 9150i at the 9110i price! Yeeeeehhhhaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!

Ultanium,

Could you leave your order number? I guess I have to call CSR again to ask them to replace my 9110i with 9150i. I asked them last night and was told I have to pay $199.99 for 9150i. Thanks.

The 9150i at the 9110i price is a deal staples should offer you, as they are the same exact drive -- the only difference is some software that comes with them!

Ultanium,

Could you mail me the order number? I am thinking I'd bargain with CST at staples to get HP9150i back.

Actually, the 9150i has half the 9110i's cache--only 2MBs. I didn't get a confirmation e-mail, so the best they could do for me was bring it down to $150. I told them I'd think about it, as that brings me to $80 for a drive with only 1.5 secs of buffer. Not sure if I should just stick with my Memorex 2x a bit longer...
