HP 9100i causing OE faults

I have a hp 9100i cd rw, and on my BX board I had no problems with it (p2 400). Now I have a A7V duron 700 combo, and it causes an OE exception if I try to read a disk. Pnp detects it, its fine unless I do a read. Usually this is to do with slave/master settings. But I have it on a seperate channel as master, same thing. slaved and mastered on the same channel with my Dvd drive same thing.. (the set up I had on the bx btw). Today it made some bad rumbling sounds, and after the expensive hp call, he gave no useful help. Firmware is updated, but I can't get my Bios updated because I can't get a startup disk made in ME even through control panel. I don't think the BIOS is the problem though it could be, anyone have any help? I didn't have ME when this problem first started, and everything was the same as my BX.

Duron 700@909 1.74 Vcore

NEED HELP!

If u go to the HP site...and search around...u will find that they are still testing compatability of that burner with windows me....I uninstalled me to wait to see if they were going to come up with new drivers for the 9100i...the problem is me...not the drive...should work fine under 98.

I had the problem before I installed ME. I spoke to HP before I installed ME, this is an ongoing problem with this board for me.
