Price is not that grate compare recent eBay deal on the IBM notebook.
just check my Tbird 1.2Ghz and it is running at 40C+ . Wondering how hot this baby will go.

Athlon4 and Tbird is complete different CPU. It should be
much cooler.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Best Buy and
compared SONY Duron 850MHZ and PIII850 MHZ notebook. I felt
Duron is much cooler than PIII. It just little warm. The price
for both are same too($1599).

I heard that many PC manufacturers are using desktop verion
Celeron and PIII in notebooks for saving cost.

Unless you have money go for 0.13mm version PIII, otherwise,
Athlon4 is better deal, much faster than PIII.

Just saw www.lostcircuits.com has found Athlon4 is upto 89% faster
than current Athlon(TB).

I think it's a good deal.

I just purchased a dell inspiron 2100 for $1500 pIII 700, 128mb, 20gb, 4mb video,8x dvd, 12.1" TFT but its only 3lbs.

I also noticed a farely good priced Sony Viao 800 or 850 mhz Duron, 128mb, 20gb hd, 8x dvd, 14.1" TFT, 8mb video for $1299 at Circuit City B&M.

Not the greatest price but fairly decent for anyone who is looking. I personally would recommend going with a DELL laptop.

Stay away from the Sony Vaio Duron 800. It is NOT a PowerNow! enabled chip. If you try to play a DVD while on battery, you get about 30 minutes. A co-worker bought one this week, and returned it promptly. The clue should have been that Sony was giving away a free extra battery with this model. I think all Athlon 4s and Duron 850s+ are the new core with PowerNow! etc.
