HP 895Cse install problem XP-Pro sp2

I have tried to install my HP 895Cse under Windows XP Pro with sp2. I receive a failure message. I have followed the microsoft instructions to replace drivers.cab from the install disk. I receive the same error. The windows install itentifies the printer as a 895C and errors with a message of Data invalid.

HP does not list any available drivers for the 895Cse and suggests the XP driver set, no help.

Any ideas?
 
The 895C is a bit long in the tooth - have you tried the parallel port connection? And you can also try this driver set:
