I'm still looking around for a workstation notebook for coding, GPGPU, and some gaming. I don't have a desktop and I would prefer to have the mobility instead (I move around a lot). 15.4 inch is about the right form factor.

HP 8510w:
1920x1200 LCD
FX 570M
C2D 65nm
Blueray reader
8cell battery
6.1lb

Dell 4300
1920x1200 LCD
FX 360M
C2D 45nm
DVD-RW
9cell battery

Alienware m15x
1920x1200 LCD
8800MGTX
C2D 45nm
Blueray writer!
6 cell battery

Processor:
Alienware & Dell > HP with Penryn offering

Graphics:
Not sure. Still I'm not sure why Quadro is any different from GeForce, but I think 8800GTX is the most powerful, so
Alienware > HP > Dell

DVD/BR:
Alienware > HP > Dell

Battery:
Dell > HP > Alienware

Cost (actual, not value):
Alienware > HP & Dell (HP and Dell are pretty close)

I concerned about build quality, whether Alienware is built well vs HP and Dell. As far as battery is concerned, I think instead of a second hd, the media bay should be used for another 6cell, giving the thing 12 cell, but also a lot heavier.

the m15x I priced is almost 6k, while the other two hover around 3k.

I think I will get the HP, but I really want the Penryn processor. If they come out with it I'll order one right away.

Does anyone know the relative brightness, contrast between the three 1900x1200 panels? I'm writing on a T60p 1680x1050 panel and while the text is sharp, the screen is really not all that bright, and the viewing angle really sucks.

Thoughts would be appreciated!
