HP 3210 Printer Install Question

Is there a way to install this printer without all the crap software that comes with it. I've installed this printer and every time I turn around Zone Labs informs me it wants to go to the Internet for updates. I can't control the time that it does this and it gets downright annoying.

I know this printer is a copier and can print pictures and I want that capability. Can I just go to control panel/printer/faxes/ and use the add printer function and not get all the crap I don't want. I have the Windows Media Center if I want to print pictures but I'm not sure I'll be able to copy documents. Any ideas?

Sincerely,
Hans

This should be of some help:

Hpwuschd ... this would need to be disabled

Hpwuschd2 ... this would need to be disabled

HPWuSchd.exe

HPWuSchd2.exe

(Hewlett-Packard)

HP Windows Updates Scheduler task installed by some of the more recent full printing suite driver installs. This task checks periodically, when you are on the Internet, for updated drivers for your HP equipment.

Recommendation :
Unless the software is antivirus or firewall software, we always recommend against background tasks that check for software updates. They typically slow down boot-up times, often generating errors during the boot-up process, slowing down your Internet connection, particularly if you are on dial-up rather than broadband, and the worst behaved ones install software without your knowledge, potentially creating conflicts. In the case of HPWUSCHD/HPWUSCHD2 we have seen it occasionally crash on boot-up on some PCs. Most importantly, if your printer works fine and without problems, there is no need to fix what does not need fixing through the installation of the latest drivers whenever you are prompted to ! Only update your drivers when you actually have problems that need fixing ? to do that, navigate to HP through our Drivers page. Delete this task immediately with The Ultimate Troubleshooter.

Should these be disabled under the start/run/msconfig/startup menu? That's real helpful, thanks. The CD that came with it gives you two options: One full install option and one that has a brief version of their HP Imaging program, not much choice.

Sincerely,
Hans

I went to services under msconfig and the only related to HP is this "Pml Driver HP212" and it shows "stopped" for status. First I pressed "hide Microsoft entries" and that left me with 7 entries that were legit except for the HP one. Since there were several exe. programs from HP trying to access the Internet you think disabling this will do the trick?

How about this: I found both files (Hpwuschd and Hpwuschd2) in the HP folder. They are application files. If I delete them will that get rid of them or will the PC put them back in when I restart the PC.
