HP 2500C printer memory upgrade

Hey, does anybody know if you have to use HP memory when you are upgrading a printer's memory? The printer I plan on upgrading has 2 slots for 72pin simms. Can I just used regular pc memory or is printer memory different? Thanks.
 
Well I ended up putting some regualr old IBM pc simms in the printer and it recognized them and printed fine. I'm not sure if I will see any problems from using the IBM memory in it, but we'll see.
