Howto change Android hostname?

Can this be done without root? I wants going to root my S7E till after warranty but if i cant change my hostname ill root it when get home.

Ive got a good dozen android devices on my home network and trying to get my pfsense firewall dialed in with that many devices all named android-2120ee3b45*********** is getting old real fast.
 
Not on stock AOSP. You can do it through developer settings if you have CyanogenMod.

Also, can you not just force all the android-* to expire the DHCP, then assigning them hostnames one by one?

Well that helps for some of them, 4 of them are running cyanogen.
