Decided to see how well I could get things out of the way on a cheap system...turned out very nice, save the flimsy floppy cable. The power cables sitting near the lowest 5.25" bay will be cable-tied, but there is still a DVD/CDRW that will be gutted from the client's old machine.

Nice work! You don't really have to spend much to keep your cables out of the way :) I've done similar things with some of my systems. The regular flat cables fold nicely.

I figured I'd see making this one after seeing the mess that my dad had just made, not that it could be helped.
RAID 1 in the said case w/ a PCI card (make a difference trying to fold the cables),a DVD and tape drive...4 IDE cables and a floppy...it was quite a mess, so I figured I'd see how well I could do with a normal PC...better than I thought. Now if only I could speed up the windows updates...

Hehe, I've seen those before, too...slient pc review review of that case and then some forums searching after I recommended that case to a friend. I like the evercase, but the Antec (Chieftec?) is far roomier.
Not quite that good, but this was my first try :D.

Ralf Hutter is the MAN!
Nice work Ernie.
Almost makes me want to take out the round cables and try some folding....

Link? No point--there are several.

It's the Evercase e4252 mid-tower. Several options, and it looks pretty good in black.
If you have a PSU you like already, the black w/o a PSU would be the way to go.

They've gotten a bit more expensive recently :disgust:, but IMO there still aren't better cases until over $50. The tool free mounting does work, but as you can see in the pic, I like to add ascrew in the back so that there's no wiggle room, as many drives aren't a perfect fit. However, it coems with enough screws to screw the expansion slots down (also comes with a screwless thingie for them) and all the drives in, unless you've got a monster mobo. Comes with room for grommets, and srews for use with them, but no actual grommets.
(the nearest would be the $60 Compucase LX-6A19, but at 0.8mm...I'd rather get a nicer 1 or 1.2mm steel case)

Ralf Hutter's, BTW, is the Antec SLK3700AM?, same as the Compucase but with a few extra goodies, I believe thicker steel, and it's not ugly (JMHO).

On the steel, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing 1mm for the Antec and coolcases versions somewhere, but can't recall where.
