My mother just called, guess what Gurck's getting for christmas? Yep, a fscking iPod :| Not even one of the less-crappy 20/40gb models, a freaking POS, low capacity, headphone-jack-breaking mini. And I can't turn it down, as it was a gift to her from her employer and the expectation is that my stepfather gets it when I get a better one, something I haven't done yet - and won't, until one with an AM tuner (in addition to meeting my other standards for players) is released, so I can't just ebay it... Looks like i might have to bite the bullet and spring for one regardless, probably the 40gb iAudio m3, nice price on that... Ugh, this really bites :frown:

😱 No kidding, I usually get it right the first time, but I'm all thumbs here for some reason. The original URL not being reproduceable didn't help either, but I found another article on the problem (there are tons). Essentially the headphone jack's connection to the PCB is poorly engineered (ie. cheap, but at least the savings are passed on to the cust... er, oh... wait a minute....), resulting in crackling audio with a low-moderate amount of use for most units.

Seriously guys, read my reply. A player, temporary though it will be (mark my words), will beat no player. I just thought it was funny that of all people who'd get an iPod - and one they couldn't refuse or ebay, it was me 🙂
