Wow, that's an awesome overclock on that BFG 9800 GTX+. I don't think I've gotten the shader that high sustained without glitching. Did you improve cooling or manually speed up the fan? What are your ambient temps? I ask because that is a nice load temp on the GPU.

Summary of http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3340
Crysis 1600x1200
9800 GX2 - 48.8
8800 GT SLI - 46.1
GTX 280 - 40.7
GTX 260 - 33.3
9800 GTX+ - 31.6

Call of Duty 4 1920x1200 4xAA
9800 GX2 - 107.9
8800 GT SLI - 101.8
GTX 280 - 90.9
GTX 260 - 74.3
9800 GTX+ - 61.4

ET: Quake Wars 1920x1200 4xAA
GTX 280 - 99
9800 GX2 - 97.2
8800 GT SLI - 89.4
GTX 260 - 84.2
9800 GTX+ - 64.1

Assassin's Creed 1920x1200
9800 GX2 - 62.9
8800 GT SLI - 62.2
GTX 280 - 55.5
GTX 260 - 50.2
9800 GTX+ - 49.4

The Witcher 1920x1200 2xAA
9800 GX2 - 56.3
GTX 280 - 55.1
8800 GT SLI - 54.6
GTX 260 - 46.1
9800 GTX+ - 36.1

Bioshock 1920x1200
9800 GX2 - 116.5
8800 GT SLI - 107
GTX 280 - 96.7
9800 GTX+ - 69.2
GTX 260 - 69

Oblivion 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF
9800 GX2 - 60.8
8800 GT SLI - 56.2
GTX 280 - 51.1
GTX 260 - 43
9800 GTX+ - 40.2

So, two 9800 GTX+ in SLI should be faster than the 9800 GX2 or 8800 GT SLI, and those are the top two scores in most of the listed benchmarks.

I got similar results with my evga 9800 GTX. also, I dont think thats a GTX+, those clock higher. however, I was able to get my 9800 GTX to around 900/2050/2500, but it wasnt stable in games. remember, trick is to set the fan to 100%, while default is 35.

now im running 100% fan, 800/2000/1200(2400 DDR), which is a pretty standard user OC on the 65 nm version, or so it seems to me. stays under 50 C as far as I can tell, idles at 40.

but ya, good OC, though, if it is the plus, you can get higher. and if you go SLI, get a regular, not a plus, b/c the regular will hold the plus back as far as OC goes, so the extra price is for nothing.

Yes this is just a GTX not a gtx+. Idle temp is around 42-45c depending on what the fan speed is set at. In that pic, full load temp is like 65c with the fan speed set to 100%, i usually have the fan around 50-70% when im not stressing the GPU. Its prime stable in games...then again i havent tested it with crysis yet. Playing CS:S for hours with the fan speed at 75% temps never go above 52*c. As soon as i get the core clock to 828mhz i get errors in ATItool...so i just dropped it a few more Mhz and left it there. I have to say...ATItool is the best program i have used for priming my GPU...its very simple. As for the sli...is it possible to run a 9800 gtx+ with a regular 9800 gtx? I didnt think you could. Or can you possibly run an 8800gts with a 9800 gtx seeing as how its the same architecture? I imagine running crysis will get the GPU temps up to about 60*c but we'll see.

My bad, I just looked at the end of the GPU name and saw the +. So, GPU-Z now admits that it can't distinguish between the two. :p I've heard about people complaining about getting GTX+ that GPU-Z reports as 65nm. I've tested it and indeed it reports as 65nm, but taking the fansink off shows a 55nm core.

The shader clock is notched, so you may want to see if that exact MHz is what causes the shader to go up to the next level. If so, perhaps the core can take it but the shader can't? Nvidia System Tools for Vista can clock the shader independantly (to a degree) from the core, so you may be able to get a few more MHz out of the core at the same 2025MHz shader.

Yes, 9800 GTX and 9800 GTX+ can SLI together. No, 9800 GTX/GTX+ cannot SLI with 8800 GTS G92. NVIDIA's drivers allow same card names to SLI together, that's why the 55nm card is still a 9800 GTX, just with a + after it. This is also why the new GTX 260 with 216 cores is still called a GTX 260.

As for the shader and core clock, i did clock them separately with rivatuner. I raised the clock on the core until i got errors then backed it off...then raised the clock on the shaders until i got errors then backed that down as well. And i did the same thing for the Memory clock.

As for SLi...
Seems as though it may just be cheaper to get a 9800 gtx+ than it would be to get a GTX...plus supply is pretty limited at this point for the regular 9800 gtx. Thanks for the help Zap! :)

i would still want to get a regular GTX, and they can be found for cheaper, such as on Ebay, though evga is selling them for 169, but they are out of stock currently.
