How's the NEC MultiSync LCD1700V 17" LCD ?

I want to get my dad a Flat panel LCD for x-mas. He uses his computer for basic stuff... e-mails and playing with digital photos.

I saw the NEC 1700V 17"LCD at a decent price. How is this LCD?

Should I make sure I get a LCD with a DVI connector? He doesn't want to upgrade his current video card right now (ATI Radeon).

How would the Nec compare to the Samsung 17" 171S .( It's 100 $Can more)

This is old model. It's not worth to buy.
Quite low contrast ratio, brightness, viewing angle, no dvi, and is not cheap enough for justify the spec and age unless there is a clearance deal.
Please check out the new coming 60 series.

Samsung 171S is also old model, also not cheap enough fro justify the spec and age unless there is a clearance deal.
