How's the image stabilization of the new Canon SD700?

is it good enough to warrant an upgrade from SD500?

I don't have the most steady hand in the world and any help I can get...I guess I will take it. I will lose mega pixel resolution though...from 7.1 to 6, will that matter much?

I haven't read up on or tried any canon camera's with IS recently but if it's a similar system to what is in the S1/S2 IS cameras then it is effective at counteracting camera shake. The difference in megapixels means nothing in this case.

Tiny camera/tiny lens woes. And, IS is supposed to be the cure all, eh?

Use your current camera for "pocketable" duty, and step up to a full size camera with decent, bright glass for important pics.
