How's the future of Ink Cartridges?

What does the future look like for places such as Cartridge World? They are a fairly new franchise. Do most big businesses have laser printers now? Are lasers the future?

Thanks, I do not know about about it.

Discuss.

Well, for home use, I think inkjets will be here for a while because the cost of color lasers isn't cheap enough for most home users. I've gone into one of their stores in the past and they were friendly folks that seemed to know what they were talking about.

Businesses? Lasers for sure, I'm not sure if there's any reason at all to have inkjets. I would be surprised if I saw a business with inkjets

I know of *many* businesses that use inkjet printers for one purpose or another. I'm actually considering ordering one for my office -- we currently do not have one, and we are required to print certain things on certain paper that cannot be used in laser printers (believe me, I've thrown away the result).

I dunno, ask the newspaper printers.
Ink is widely used, and will be for some time.

Yep, just one of the many I am looking at to add to my other investments.

Thanks for the responces guys. Anyone else care to respond, or have a business where you could see yourself or the business use such stores as Cartridge World?

:)

Rise in popularity of digicams may equate increased sales of inkjets. Most color lasers don't print good photos. Your biggest concern might be
1) Proprietary cartridges that cannot be refilled or recycled
2) Competition--Why should I buy from your business?

I work in IT and I would never buy refilled cartridges.

They ordered some the other day at work instead of the official ones (which I made sure will not happen again) and I needed to replace one and it's all we had. Got it out of the box, pulled out the strip that seals the toner in, and toner started spilling out all over the place.

That and there are other issues with refilled cartridges. Over time, bits of paper can get inside the toner cartridges and if you refill them and they are still in there they can cause poor print quality and you will end up with spots all over your paper and such.

different kind of ink... They would use presses, etc. not inkjet printers to print them off.

Ink is still used in some high end print shops, but laser is the future there for sure... inkjet is reserved only for special requirements.

Thanks for that. That is exactly what I wanted to hear, as people like you would be the main business. The only way to survive immediately would be to get out onto the street and get big businesses to let us refill their cartridges.
