Hows the cooler on the 7800GT

I was just going to purchase this.
(or the $20 cheaper one)

I was wondering if the stock copper HSF on it will cool it good enough and wether it's loud or not. Also would anyone suggest putting AS5 on it to help cool it?

whether or not the stock hsf is "sufficient" is up to u. But if you want a quieter pc, or cooler temps with OCing get either the NV Silencer, or Zalman VF700 w/ AS5.

The reference cooler design on the 7800GT cools just fine, though not as good as third party coolers. But it's way too loud for my taste, so I replaced it with a NV silencer.
They wouldnt ship it if it wasnt sufficient. Dont quote me on that if you're OC though.

Ditto. The stock cooler worked well to cool the card (I think my temps were 68c max - I have the EVGA 7800GT CO though) but it vented hot air directly on my chipset and the fan was WAY loud. Try the stock cooler and see how it works out for you first. If it's not working out, the NV silencer is a super nice solution at a reasonable price. 😉
