I want to know what kind of fps people are getting with the 9800 pro before I start feeling good or bad about my set-up ;)

Post your settings, i.e. resolution, graphics setting (high, medium etc), aa/af and fps.

aa/af are off on my 128mb 9800 pro, everything else is on high at 1600 x 1200, I get around 60 fps with a few drops into the upper twenties. This is running on an athlon XP 2100+

It runs smoothly on my P4 2.8, 1gb RAM, 9800pro at 1280x1024. Max details and no FSAA/AF.

Sheesh, just over a year ago the 9800 PRO was the shiznet. Now its a POS bottleneck. The price on these new cards is pretty obscene.

While old, I wouldn't consider the 9800P to be a POS. Maybe a bottleneck, but definately not a POS.

Wow, Goose...That's pretty impressive at 16x12. Notice any slowdown at such high a resolution?

I've yet to buy the silver package (yeah, I KNOW, but I've preloaded), but I was just a little hesitant because how it would run on my XP-M 2600@2.3ghz and 9800@XT speeds.

Hell, I'd be thrilled with 1024x768 with max detail, and I should be able to get good performance at that resolution with no problems.

yeah, he would *HAVE* to notice slowdowns at that res. but there are a lot of 9800/9700 users "in denial" who like to pretend their card can handle 1600x1200 with all AA and AF on without any problems. "30fps is enough for me!", they say. WHAT-EVAH... not to mention using 4x AA but only 2x AF is a bit retarded.

anyways, here's what I'm using: 1152x864, All options on high (as per the Asterisk) except Water reflect which is set to World. AA is off. AF is set to 4x. looks very nice and performance is great.

Radeon 9800 PRO @ XT BIOS @ 440/375
Cat 4.12beta
DirectX 9.0c
WinXP SP1a

Athlon64 3000+ @ 2450mhz
1 GB DDR @ DDR 444 (222mhz)

Yeah, even though my processor is slightly lower, I should be able to run at least 1024x768 with all options on hight with my 9800P @ 425/375.

The reason I ask, is because I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to framerate and smooth performance. I have no problem with turning down the eye candy if it gets me the performance I want. But in this case, I don't think I'll have to. :)

I am using a 9800 Pro 128mb card with a 3.06GHz P4 and 768mb of RAM. Running it at 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 2xAF, everything at high, and it looks pretty sweet and plays smooth.

I ran the torture test benchmark in the CS:Source with no AA or AF and it benchmarked at 88.5FPS so I figured I could turn on the AA and AF to low settings.

I have played thru several levels and am sorta stuck now so I am taking a break. It is a really nice game.

Usually sits round 60-70 fps I'd say. Jumps to 200 or so in simple areas, high 20s when there's a lot going on.

That freaking airboat just about made me cream my pants. So damn fun.

System:
Athelon XP 2900 (or something around there)
9800Pro
1GB 333DDR

Game Settings:
1280x1024
No AA/AF
High Settings
Reflections on Environment

I had AA on but noticed slowdown in certain scenes, ones with lots of monsters I think. I wanted to keep it running smooth so I turned the AA off.
