So how good is this card?

I can't really upgrade to a better card because my PSU is too weak, but I can get one for 100$.

I had to mess with mine a bit...I did not understand the rail set-up. Seems that each 12V connector must originate from a separate "rail". Looks like I am staying powered up OK now. I will let you know when I get through a few games. I just got a new Antec EARTHWATTS 500 and it seems OK. What type of PS do you have?

You can get a proper X1650 Pro with as much RAM as it can use (256 MBs) for a lot less than a ripoff price of $100.

The card is too slow, with too narrow a memory bandwidth, and too slow a memory system, to use 512 MBs, so the extra 256 is a marketing scam, pure and simple.

I'd go for the 1650XT myself. You can check TomsHardware for their charts to see where the cards place in various games.

Yes. Generally, the 7600GT offers better performance than a 6800Ultra. And the X1650XT performs about the same as a 7600GT.

would it be good for upcoming games like bioshock and current games like supreme commander?

7900 class nvidias are much nicer on power requirements and more powerful than the 1650. I would not upgrade a 6800 card to less than 7950/1950 series gfx and even then 8800's are coming down to equal prices lately.

As far as AGP goes though I don't know if 8800's are offered in it...I have been running PCI-E for a while. I do hear AGP is better if you don't do SLI.

I seriously doubt it. Not enough horsepower (my first initial feeling) for these new titles.
Might be able to play those games, but at seriously reduced settings and at low resolutions. This is just a guess mind you. Of course I can't be sure how hard these games will be on these cards.

X1650pro 256 GDDR3 for 70.00

Or even better still:

7600GT 256 GDDR3 for 90.00

Or just as good as the 7600GT:

X1650XT 256 GDDR3 for 95.00

The last two outperform the X1650pro considerably. The last two also perform very close to each other. And, the last two are under your 100 dollar budget. (Or was this just your budget for a PSU?) hehe

I noticed this guy has a 6800 16/6, a 7600gt or 1650xt is not much of a upgrade. I suggest a 7900gs of 7950gt, both use less power then a 6800 series card so your psu should be fine.

Video card power chart here. http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=7&t=9354

One more thing if you board uses a 4x pci-e slot you with lose about 5% with cards faster then a 6800ultra ,but a 7900gs/gt should be ok. Anything faster upgrade your board.
