Agreed - stepping up to 512mb memory (especially if running XP) would probably be very beneficial to you. Dual channel isn't crucial, for you're running a Celeron AND it honestly isn't that much faster.

Don't get a cheaper case, but get a Barton 2500+ (shouldn't be too much difference in price).

Agreed..

Oh god no, not a celeron. If you wanted a cheap CPU then you should look at the AMD's. 90 dollars for a 2500 barton will be at least twice as fast than that over priced celeron.

Since you asked...I think your system is a waste of money. I think you are the perfect candidate for a Dell. You spend $150 on a case, then another ~$40 for a power supply.............and then you buy a Celeron. LMAO...that makes no sense, regardless of what you plan on using it for. And its not that the Celeron is particularly slow, its just that its a poor investment when you think about how the Barton will destroy it.

Barton + nForce2 + 512MB pc3200 + Antec 3700.

thats fine for not playing games, however its going to perform on par with CPUs that are rated at lowwer MHZ speeds.

ie, an athlon xp 1700 or a p4 1.8 would rip that celeron a new one.

Also, 256mb of ram is ok for most things, but if you expect heavy usage, and want it to last a long time, I'd strongly advise to get 512MB of ram or more.

The celeron is a total waste of money, as well as the case + power supply. I fyou want a a high end case and psu get an ANTEC 1080 AMG it is more than sufficient.

I second the notion that you should just get a dell.
