"How's My Driving?" stickers. Have you reported someone?

Have you ever been alarmed enough by someone's driving that you have called the number on their sticker? Did you want to call but didn't have a safe opportunity because you were driving next to a maniac?

No - the ones with these stickers are usually kept in check. These guys' livelihood typically depend on their keeping a driver's license so they must behave.

not allowed to use a cellphone and drive here.

so reporting them makes you a criminal in ontario.

Not even a bluetooth on-screen dialer?

I know they have a strict no-distraction law up there.

Are you allowed to take a drink?

anything that can be considered distracting is just that.

distracted driving.

view display screens unrelated to your driving

That doesn't answer the question. The car's on-screen display can't be seen by the officer while he's in his car anyway. If you could use your on-screen nav, you could use the phone dialer on there if your car is equipped, technically speaking, no?

A cell phone with an earpiece, headset or Bluetooth device using voice-activated dialing.

Yes - only to activate or deactivate a “hands-free” function, and only if the device is mounted or secured.
Actions like dialing or scrolling through contacts are not allowed.

so no you cannot dial.

Most cars disable the dialer and contact screen when you go over 3 mph. The only thing in my car that still works is the redial screen with a list of recent contact that i can navigate from my steering wheel controls.

I have never personally called but I know some people at my work that I have been reported for un-safe driving with fleet vehicles.

That was one thing I really liked about the non touch screen Sync system in my old Focus. There was a fully functional hard button dial pad on the dash that worked at any speed. Was awesome for entering meeting ID numbers for conference calls while on the road. Disable that 😛

I like to call and compliment them.

"You're driver just executed a left-lane merge to perfection. I was in awe."

This is what's wrong with touch-screens. The focus required to tap exactly where you are looking, then focusing back on the road, makes it dangerous. I experience this all the time in another car using a standalone GPS... interacting with that thing is scary while driving especially in congestion. If you have the rotary dial like Audi/BMW/MB does, it is so much safer because everything is like mind control. On the negative side, it's more cumbersome. But all functions in BMW still remain active at any speed. In a MB, I think only some NAV functions like inputting addresses are disabled while at speed.

In my tundra, I can program speed dial buttons that I can still press and use while in motion, but the dialer itself is disabled from entering a full phone number.

I hate the touch screen in our explorer. Want to do anything related to adjusting the heat or fan speed, you have to manuever to the correct touch screen and then press a + or -. You can also use voice commands, but its clunky and if you don't know the commands, its an exercise in futility. I have heard they put knobs back in due to customer complaints. (just checked, yep, they did)

Yep I have once. Driving large fleet vehicle in left lane below speed limit while not passing. Car behind them flashed and then honked. I was able to get the plate and sticker info from my dash camera even though I was 1 car back.

my friend reported a semi that was blocking his view. The semi was about 3 blocks away and this guy called the number on it. I was like wtf.. u got too much time.

Not really the same as a moving vehicle

Yes I have, some idiot in a truck towing a huge trailer cut me off and I almost caused a 4 car pileup to avoid hitting the truck and trailer. I called up the number on his vehicle and proceeded to tell his management just what I thought of his driving.

Sounds like he got the motherfuckin's he deserved.

I have once. Semi on a 2 lane highway going 15 miles under limit, but I couldn't pass because he was left of center about 50% of the time as well.

Never.

Strangely, people who might actually be held accountable for their driving, never seem to drive horribly.

I'm sure its just a coincidence.

I reported an 18 wheeler that blew thru a red light about 3 - 5 seconds after it had turned red, I immediately paced it and it was doing 65 and a 45 zone. I waited until it turned, saw the company name on the door, called and reported.

I reported an insect spray company driver.

I made a U turn and got to the middle of the midian so nobody could hit me by accident.

I looked both ways and the road was clear for more than 500 yards left to right so I did not have to kick it into high gear so I could take my time.

So after looking right how long does it take to turn ones head the other way in the direction you want to go?? I'd say 2-3 seconds at the most? So within that time period the second I start forward a speeding bug truck was going faster than a bat out of hell passed me within inches of hitting me!

So 500 yards in less than 3 seconds is what speed? Any math people out there?

Pretty much. I always wondered about that. Same when people ask "did you get the license plate?" Umm no, I'm not going to try to find a pen and paper or use my phone while driving. I guess dashcam is good for these type of situations you can always call in after. But really, unless the other driver is doing stuff that's life threatening and he really should not be on the road, I don't really feel like being responsible for costing someone their job.

About 341 miles per hour

I once called in the driver of a nursing home van.

There was construction up ahead and her lane was about to end, so she FLOORED it and cut into my lane and missed me by inches. I slammed on my brakes and saw the name and number of the nursing home on the side of her van. I called it in and talked to the supervisor about their driver.
