Hey all, first time computer builder here. I was directed to this forum by a friend and was wondering if anyone here could let me know if my setup looks okay or I should change anything.

Computer will be used for standard things college kids use computers for (itunes, movies, etc.). I tend to run quite a few programs at once and constantly import fairly large data files (online poker stuff), so having no lag would be ideal. I'd like to keep the price under $2000.

I use dual monitors-- a 30 inch Dell and a 20 inch Samsung.

will you be overclocking? it seems so cause you listed some good ballistix ram, e6400 (as opposed to a higher clocked stock cpu), and a pretty good case for cooling.

three things i would do about your build:

1. go to the Hot Deals forum and search for raptors. i know you can get them for $160 without rebates (saves you $60)
2. check out the reviews for the dvd rw. make sure they're recent. some manufacturers used to be amazing but are starting to get sloppy.
3. i think you can get a case similar to what you got for ~$100. if it's the case you want, then go for it. if you just liked the looks, look around a little if you can.

the rest looks awesome. you should've posted this in General Hardware, though, so if you see you don't get too many replies, a lot more people check out General Hardware.

good luck building :)

o yea, welcome to AT
