I'm itching to upgrade my 1.4Ghz to a AXP1700+. I currently have an Epox 8K7A and don't want to bother upgrading to a KT266A yet. Does the AthlonXP give good increase to 760s when compared to Tbirds?

I doubt you would notice a difference between a 1.4 Tbird and a 1.46 XP, except in benchmarks.

Well i'm selling my old 1.4 for $150 which is about as much as the 1700XP cost anyways, so it's a free upgrade. I'm just wondering if i should bother upgrading the mobo too. Then i'd have to find someone to sell my 8k7a to :)

Nah, my GF's PC runs a XP1600+ w/ an 8k7a, and it is a screamer. I think you should hold on to what you got.

Just who did you find that was crazy enough to spend that much on a used T-bird 1400? You can get a brand new one for less than that.

Well since you can get 1.4 Tbirds at about $110, i can save about $40 by getting him a new 1.4 instead of swapping my 1.4 for a 1700+. Get it?

BTW not everyone are computer freaks like you guys on anandtech :)

you guys just need to find friends who don't know a lot about comps. Then charge them full price for stuff. I mean retail prices here are amazingly high, $160 for an Athlon 1.4ghz. They don't show online, so i use those for comparison :) And thats pretty much the cheapest of all the computer shops (we only have compusa).
