Seems like more and more recorders are supporting it now and most new DVDROMs also support it. Seems like the only thing is price of media but you don't have to deal with all the packet writing crap.

boy you sure get constructive feed-back on Anandtech....

I've been using it successfully for years....it's faster now, has built-in XP support, stable and most Panasonic DVD stand-alone recorders/players use it. I prefer the cartridge type as it has the ultimate protection for the disks.

I like it. It my media of choice for archiving important data. The only problem I have with it is that DVD Writers that accept the cartridge format are too expensive. The cheapest one (panasonic) I see is $170 at ebay. By contrast, I can get a nice NEC DVD+/-RW DL writer for $75.
