How's Dexter this season?

Fell asleep during the first episode this season and the first 20 minutes of the 2nd episode didn't seem any better. Did I catch it during an off moment or is the show not worth watching anymore?

i watched breaking bad after watching all of Dexter.

now i don't feel like watching Dexter because it's too light in comparison, and i am worried that breaking bad won't be as good as the first three seasons

The barfight/marriage troubles sub-plot is incredibly tedious IMO. And the Venezuelan death cult sub-plot is pretty boring so far.

Funny - I used to love Dexter until I got into Breaking Bad as well - the ambition in writing/directing and acting on Breaking Bad's better than anything else on tv... Dexter's just not in the same league, but at least it's (was?) entertaining..

I agree, I have no interest in those two characters. Like someone else said, I have a feeling that death cult sub-plot is going to end up connecting to major characters and/or Dexter later in the season.

The important thing that I saw in this episode is that Dexter got back to his normal ways. The unfortunate thing about having Julia Stiles now is that she has a personality similar to that of a rock.

I'm holding out judgment. I didn't have high hopes for jimmy smits or john lithgow but both turned out very good IMO. the show wrote those characters very well, so if they do the same for stiles, it should work out fine

So far not too great. A lot of kids and angst dealing with Rita's death, not too much excitement or killing on Dexter's end. They need to find a GREAT villain to spice things up, the last couple of seasons set the bar high for the bad guys.

That stuff never really goes anywhere though. Dexter always gets close to getting caught then skates away at the last moment through some remarkable stroke of luck.
