I have read that the KT600 comes up short when compared to nVidia's nForce. Other than the not so favorable review of the VIA KT600 chipset, I've owned a few Aopen boards and have never had a problem. They performed exactly as expected and were (still are) very stable. It has been over a year since I last built a system with an Aopen but they were painless and very reliable, and I've built Intel and AMD systems with them. Maybe others will be able to give you more specific info with regards to over clocking and performance but I believe the weak link will be the chipset.

From AMDMB Review of the KT600 chipset.

Finally, looking for a board that ?just works? is probably one of the harder tasks for a buyer to accomplish as it isn?t something you?ll find listed on a box cover anywhere. In our tests, the MSI KT6 Delta, AOpen AK77-600 and Soyo KT600 Dragon all had about the same level of stability and memory compatibility compared to the other boards.

Overall, the KT600 chipset is a welcome addition to the current Athlon XP line of chipsets. With the additional value of the included Serial ATA and RAID support as well as finally having support for the 400 MHz FSB Athlon XP 3200+ processor, VIA may have a success on their hands. However, it isn?t all roses for them quite yet. The memory problems we have discussed are easily an effect of the chipset itself, and whether or not the manufacturers can keep stability high will decide if enthusiasts will grab up the board. And, not to mention, the Athlon XP line of processors does have a time limit to its life now, and the chances of VIA making it big with the KT600 diminish with each passing month.

Read a review of various KT600 boards here. . Almost all boards tested had memory problems. That turned me off in a hurry.

ive always liked aopen boards

and true the kt600 is slightly slower then the nforce2, but the performance is so close that you really only see the difference in benchmarks

personally i really like the kt600 chipset. its super stable and has all kinds of goodies built into the new southbridge (including sata) all for a low price :)
