Nate Silver of 538 interviews the, um, documentarian of the above entitled effort, John Ziegler. Ziegler contends the overwhelming media bias was the main factor in Obama's victory. Things get a little contentious.

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com...-ziegler-on-zogby.html

Note that Nate keeps his cool, but the nutjob can hardly keep from frothing. One other thing to note is that Ziegler will not disclose who financed either the Zogby push-poll Ziegler commissioned or the documentary. Strange that a documentarian who claims to be trying to get at the truth is so secretive...

NS: Who paid for it?
JZ: You think I'm going to tell you that? When you've already shown yourself to be the enemy?

******

NS: Well, since you?re running a website calling people misinformed, I?d like to see if -- there are certain things you?ve said that I would consider misinformed.
JZ: Misinformed? You're a piece of work! You are never going to have the guts to post a representative transcript on your website! I thought you actually ran a legitimate website!

NS: Thank you, have a good day.
JZ: Go fuck yourself.

Pollster.com's surreply

Cliffs:
No, technically by definition zogby's survey was not a 'push-poll'
It was however, riddled with leading questions that couldn't possibly result in accurate or useful findings.

excellent response. But it appears the point of the OP is to say Ziegler is an asshole, not that he's wrong. Fortunately, Nate gets to share that title: In spite of the fact that nate did NOT post the entire transcript, when all he had to do was blank out a few words. Nate is "concerned" about including ad-hominem attacks, yet he leaves in the "pinhead" remark. I'm not surprised nate's fans consider him a "journalist"

Of course he's wrong, his source is an unscientific multi-choice "poll" riddled with leading and factually incorrect assertive questions. But yeah, he's an asshole too, but most political radio dj's are.

I would like to have seen a study like this for people who voted not only for Obama, but McCain and 3rd parties as well. If they are only asking people who voted for Obama, then there's no comparison really.

Zeigler has offered to reimburse anyone who polls mccain supporters the same way, with no takers.

Well, this is the busiest time of year for market research. Especially since this was an election year and other projects got pushed back a little.

I'd be interested to see them do this with only policy questions to see who knows their candidate's platform. Everyone would fail since neither of them had a real platform, but that would tell us how much the constant trumpeting of talking points in the media and in ads really worked. This would also imply how much of an effect Obama's vastly higher spending had on get his message out there. Sadly, the issues got thrown under the bus this election in favor of the now-standard jackassery.

How about posting the questions before your own "edits"?

You're worse than this Nate Silver asshole. He starts drilling Ziegler on names of various state senators.

This liberal circle-jerk has got to come to an end sometime - hopefully sooner rather than later.

Nate owned that idiot.

I think it speaks to the intelligence of McCain supporters that they would actually believe this Zogby/Ziegler poll was legitimate.

The great thing about hacks like Ziegler is that they actually harm their party more than they help it. He would have Republicans believe there is nothing wrong with their party and that the only reason they were tossed out is because of uninformed voters.

There's going to be more pain for the Republican Party in 2010 and 2012 if they believe him.

significantly altered though still mostly accurate

Apparently not altered enough to affect its accuracy very much.

His agenda was so obvious and his credibility so laughable that as the interview wore on I stopped caring about my responses and really just let him have it.

Nice excuse he makes there for being a boorish ass.

Nate Silver is a stand up guy. I believe so unless someone can provide truth to the contrary.

and I agree with your post 100%

From his response:

The bottom line here is that this poll proves that this election (like perhaps all of our elections) was illegitimate and based almost entirely on the news media deciding it wanted (for various reasons) Barack Obama to be President.

I see. But riddle me this, if this and previous elections are illegitimate and based "almost entirely on the news media" then pray tell why couldn't the hackjob liberal media get Gore or Kerry elected?

Hate the Jews if you want, but they coined a great word. This guy is a schmuck.

Exactly, Ive said this before. If the media was soooo powerful then GWB would never have been reelected.

To say the media elected Obama is stupid.

Furthermore, with questions like "Did you know that Barack Obama launched his career in the living room of a domestic terrorist?" How could this NOT be considered a push poll?

100% agreed. It does fire up the base, but the base this kind of shit appeases to has shrunk considerably since 2004.

What the fuck is the argument over this? The questions were pure bullshit. The answers were pure bullshit. Ziegler is pure bullshit.

Some people will defend anything.
