Anyone seen this show?

They start with 5 people. Each choose a prize and the one with the lowest valued prize is eliminated. Do this over until they are down to two people.

The final two face off, each have already won three prizes in the range of 40-$80,000. They each pick a mystery card that has a dollar amount of 25.000-250,000 dollars so each has a total value of prizes of at least 100,000.

So the final comes down to this. Your choice is "keep it all" or "take it all"

if you both say keep it all then you both get to keep all your prizes.
if you both say take it all you lose all your prizes
if one says keep it all and the other says take it all then the person that says take it all gets all the prizes and the other person get nothing.

What would you do???

What would I do? I would change the channel. Howie's shows are so stupid. I watched about 10 minutes of this show before I was bored senseless. They don't give you enough information on the products to determine a real estimate. It's just the same guessing game as his last show. Takes no skill or ability. He should have at least had skimpy dressed girls like his last show. This show sucks and will soon be off the air.

They made a game show out of the prisoner's dilemma? Ugh.

I wish we had a code block that actually worked on this forum. <sigh>

me/opp
k/k = 1
k/t = 0
t/k = 2
t/t = 0

I'd go with "take".

I had a very nice punnett square but alas.

Of course you would, that's the whole point. The winning solution for an individual in the prisoners dilemma is to defect (take).

I didn't pay attention when the prisoner's dilemma was covered in school.

This was on Gameshow Network years ago, I think it was called Friend or Foe.

Sounds like Howie's version is even more simplified.

It's a little more complicated than deal or no deal was. That was about the level of tic tac toe, but without the strategy.

I would keep. If the other guy took, we would have a little get together in the parking lot.

So this is what "game" shows have come to. Make a choice, you don't have to do anything else. Just choose yes or no, we'll do the rest for you. And while you are making your choice, of which there are only two, our host is going to have a long drawn out monologue about what decision to make, then a commercial break, then more talking until they finally give you the cue say your decision, because it took you 13 minutes to decide to say yes or no.

Ugh.

You tell the other person you are taking it all. They cannot win anything. If they choose to keep it, I will split some of the prize with them. If they choose take it all, we both lose. I am fine with losing. I will NOT choose keep it all. I choose take it all, the only choice the other person has is if they want me to get anything and then trust me to give them some, or if they want to make sure both of us get nothing.

And then I choose keep it all, so that we both win.

/stolen from the british version of this show.

Pretty sure 95% of people don't understand the prisoners dilemma.

But take is always the right choice.

Exactly, I would go ape shit postal on his ass if I said keep and he said take.

So I guess I would always say take it all. Either I win it all or we both win nothing. I could not live with some other guy taking it all and leaving me with nothing. :'( I guess I am going to hell then.

You only get anything if the other person chooses to keep it, so you may as well choose the option that results in you winning the most stuff if they choose to keep it. Therefore, choose take it.

Ugh.

Game shows used to be fun to watch. Old game shows used to fit all their content into 30 minutes with a commercial or two. Modern game shows fit half that content into an hour long show, where the moment anything interesting builds up, it cuts to commercial.

And then they wonder why game shows died out. People were tired of watching that crap.
