howard stern vs jay leno and dave letterman

i listen to howard time to time when i have an early class, and he has several times indicated NOT to like either jay or dave. but i haven't caught the reason why he doesnt. anybody knows what his beef is with the two? all i know is that hey says jay leno is a fake and a hog and dave is a psycho. i have a hard time believing both but then again what do i know about these celebs.

All Howard Stern does is whine and criticize other people. Thats pretty much like half his show where he just keeps on ranting on and on about how the FCC is screwing him and what not.
On a separate account not too long ago he was bad mouthing Anna Nicole Smith and her E! show then a few days ago he had her on his show and was praising her to no end.
Put very little value to what he says.

yeah i was listening to him that day he had anna nicole smith. she seems a bit desperate too, she would have sex with anybody that liked her, I thought she lost a bit of that weight but it seems like her standards are still low.

yes, his business is ripping on people, most of it (against celebrities anyway) isn't very serious.

I've heard him criticize Leno as being phony and a shell of a man (compared to the comedian he used to be), and it's funny and kind of true, in his interviews on the Tonight Show he's on autopilot and not listening to the answers he's getting. It's as much a rant against all Hollywood phonies as anything. Also, Stuttering John was hired away by the Tonight Show, so that's an opportunity to go off on Leno, and although I quit listening regularly before that happened, I've heard that's exactly what Howard did and probably is still doing.

And if you want to get right down to it, in the case of Leno & Letterman, there's probably some jealousy on Stern's part as he's voiced interest in doing a late night show in the past, but no network will touch him.

Oh and if you've never heard his fake Dave Letterman on the radio, that's hilarious, the guy's bad timing and delivery and failed attempts to crack jokes not on the script are maybe the funniest part.

Wow.. this is great... I thought I was the only one who thought Howard Stern was totally overrated....

People here love him... but I think he is an ignorant, opportunist pig.

🙂

Howard's a tool, but that's why I like watching him.
I liked the "off the wall" Howard a lot more than the new "victimized" Howard. I don't have much time for him anymore.

Leno's interviews aren't great but then with the amount of un-interesting people he has to talk to for 15 minutes you would be too, as a matter of fact Leno normally saves bad interviews, but probably a few times a week he gets someone interesting, thoses are the interviews to watch.

As far as Letterman goes, the first 30 minutes of his show really is flat out stupid, his jokes are too vague and his timings are awful, but his interviews are also really good, Stern has nothing on either of them.

that's the difference between him and Letterman (and Conan), the latter two have more of an ability to strike up a back and forth dialogue rather than going to the next question on the blue card, and thereby get something out of "boring" guests IMO.

Letterman has totally fallen off since his Late Night days, yeah.

I'm dreading the day that Conan gets the Tonight Show, as he is, he is currently my favorite late night host, but center stage will probably change him, he won't be able to get away with all the goofy stuff he does.

I feel the same way, heh heh

out of all the late night hosts, i prefer jay, he has better jokes than letterman and at most of the time than conan, plus jay leno show have better impersonators, like bush, martha stewart, and a bunch of others. hopefully conan will be able to get a higher budget and slightly better writers for his show. as far as the interviews, i dont really care for them, and jay has to keep a schedule, plus all those interviews have been rehearsed so he only has so much time to get his point/interview across without going off track, but either way i always change to tkla wb to watch 'just shoot me' when the interviews shows up on the show.

but yeah some of the things i heard howard stern say about leno was that leno "stole" the announcer from howard's staff and he says leno seems a bit thickheaded. howard said he told leno upfront that he disliked him and said leno would say "but we're still friends right?" or something down that line. and oh yeah, howard is pretty good on impersonating jay's voice, has anybody else caught that

Howard isn't clever enough to be on the same level as leno or letterman so he resorts to outrageous content to get laughs.

wrong

Leno and Letterman would'nt even be in business if they relied on a radio audience. I don't like everything Stern does but the guy is amazingly clever, he uses people's emotions to rake in the ratings. That's why he says some of the things he does. Kind of the way Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson use their shocking images to stand apart from the crowd.
