Howard Stern Suspended For Promoting Switch To Satellite...

NEW YORK -- Shock jock Howard Stern was suspended Monday from his syndicated show for a day after heavily promoting his move to satellite radio.

Stern spokesman Matt Traub confirmed the suspension from the syndicated show in more than 20 Infinity Broadcasting Corp. markets. It was first reported on the Howard 100 channel carried by Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., where Stern is moving his show next year.

"Howard will not be on the air tomorrow. We expect him back on Wednesday," said Infinity spokeswoman Karen Mateo. Mateo wouldn't call Stern's absence a suspension and declined to comment further. Listeners will hear a compilation of Stern's best shows on Tuesday, she said.

Stern announced his departure last year to Sirius, where he received a $500 million contract to begin in January 2006. Stern boasted an audience of about 12 million and revenues of about $100 million from his morning FM show. His last live radio show for Infinity is set for Dec. 16.

Stern's Howard 100 channel on Sirius said that Stern was suspended for talking too much about his impending move to satellite. Tom Chiusano, general manager of WXRK-FM in New York, where Stern broadcasts his show, announced the suspension as the Stern show was ending Monday morning, the Howard 100 channel reported.

"This is an act of desperation by men who are losing their once-in-a-lifetime franchise," Traub said Monday.

It is not the first suspension for the shock jock. Stern said he was pulled off four Citadel Broadcasting Corp.-run radio stations in January for devoting too much time to his switch to Sirius Satellite Radio.

Last year, Clear Channel announced it was pulling Stern's syndicated show off a half-dozen of its stations because of concerns about possible government fines for indecency. Its announcement came after Clear Channel reached a $1.75 million settlement with the Federal Communications Commission over complaints against Stern and other radio personalities.

Sirius spokesman Patrick Reilly declined comment Monday on the suspension.

Howard Stern Suspended For Promoting Switch To Satellite :Q

I wish this guy would just get banned already. How many times do you have to suspend someone before people catch a clue.

hes one of the most popular talk show hosts ever.

its not like the NFL where you can find a replacement, he is the best, no one will match him.

$500 million...holy...I had no idea.

He can just point and laugh at...just about everyone, save a select few 😛

What a bunch of dumbasses. They just played right into his hands. This gets him and his move to Sirius 1000 times more exposure than anything Howard could have done on his show.

Best at what, being a complete asshole? The world would be a better place if his mouth were sowed shut.

If you don't like it, don't listen to him.

I've always liked H, but I haven't listened to him since getting XM...

Lately we having listening to him @ work, and the past couple of weeks have been some really good shows. Hope he does well on Sirius...

I don't like murder either, should I just ignore that? I don't like pornagraphy, should I just let it be all over the TV?

I don't like senseless terrorism, should I just let them do their thing? I don't like suicidal cults, should I leave them to their beliefs?

People can't just be who they are and get away with it. Respecting someone's right to be a dick is a good way to ruin society. Oh wait, we're way past that already. The fact that society allows this yahoo to have a radio show proves that.

Suspension = free publicity.

Exactly. He couldn't have asked for anything more.

Think about the largest demographic of his listeners, young males. This will just entice more.

Sticking it to The Man...

BRILLIANT!

I cant believe that guy gets 1/2 a billion dollars for doing what he does. I used to like his show and would often skip first period, sipping coffee in my car just to hear the remainder of the show. I was listening to it today and I do like the interviews with celebs like simon, but then he just gets so trashy and has to start talking about sex, porn, etc, etc. I wish he'd just do clean interviews.

You obviously are not a listener.

He was suspended for talking about (not even mentioned the name of, never has), where his show will be going in January because today happened to be the day they are dropping him from the Las Vegas market.

Had nothing to do with being a "yahoo" or a dick.

Fucking republicans

Who cares about Howard Stern? His ratings have been down from where they were a few years back and his show has become routine. So a stripper comes on and gets naked and they try and humiliate her by asking her high school questions. YAWN! The E! Channel finally had some sense to remove him off the air.

LOL, like they wanted to quit making their number one show! Howard's agreement was up and he has a "on demand" tv deal starting soon. E's gonna stop showing reruns soon and they will lose a lot of money with Howard gone..

It's amazing all the people that bash the most successful man in radio. He's doing something right, haters. I <3 Stern and will be getting Sirius come December.

edit: Oh, and Malak, you're quickly becoming one my least favorite users... it's like you're trying to be an intellectual with your posts and just ending up sounding ignorant and arrogant. It's only fitting though because you share the last name of one of my least favorite directors.
