Story

The nation's top morning-drive radio jock will not air on his CLEAR CHANNEL-owned affiliates Thursday morning, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. The Howard Stern show has been found in violation CC's new indecency standards. The action comes after CC executives reviewed comment made on Stern's Tuesday's program... Just as, CC's President/CEO John Hogan will appear as a witness at tomorrow morning's House Telecommunications Subcommittee hearing on the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act of 2004...

I seem to remember that Clear Channel is the same group that forced all their radio stations to remove any songs with the words "bomb" "explode" "fire" "crash" etc. from their playlists shortly after 9/11. I can understand that for maybe the New York area, but not nationwide.

Also, Clear Channel has imposed some really anal restrictions on most of their music stations. DJs there are mostly a voice to put to the news and advertisements. They have little and often no contol over what is played on the air. Playlists are determined either by the General Manager or Regional/Coporate Director. Requesting a song does nothing except maybe getting your name said on the air if the song you "requested" happens to be on the playlist and is up next. Oh yeah, the playlist seems to loop every 2 hours.

Oh yeah, I'm glad he's off the radio. Hell, here he's been downsized to AM radio anyway. I never really liked his show that much.

But I still hate Clear Channel.

Don and Mike were recently taken off the air for 2 weeks because of things they said. Pretty soon it's going to be nothing but crappy music and nursery rhymes.

They're cutting off their nose to spite their face. Stern is a huge show across the country.

I think he wants to get kicked off the air. Sometimes during the show he'll get censored (5-10 second delay on the show I guess) and he'll get pissed and say something dumb like "I hope I get shutdown, if I'm going to have to deal with being censored all the time I'd rather be shutdown" His show can be funny but it gets old.

Um, the show has 5 or 6 delays on it- it's never been cleaner. Indeed, Stern is up in arms about censorship.

I listened to the entire show, I didn't hear any bad words. This is too much, time to get the republicans out of office.

Yes, Clear Channel is evil, and is directly responsible for the considerable decline in quality (to put it mildly!) of American FM radio over the last decade.

Why do you think he left WAAAAABC in ny? Bunch of retarduplicans. Hannity (from faux news) is their like premier jock. what a tool. I don't enjoy howards show much (he talks bs mostly) but his outrage over censorship and delays really piss him off

Did you listen to it today Iwearnosox? They were ripping on Gweneth Paltrow for wanting to raise her kid in Spain saying how stupid she was and arrogant she was for doing that to the kid, then he through in a subtle jab by saying "well at least he'll get to listen to uncensored radio".

Considering most black people find the n word offensive. And then throw in a stereotype about watermelons.=. Im certain there are plenty of people offended by the comment.

apparently the head honcho is the same one that owns CBS or something and since he had to get flamed for janet's stunt he went across the line on eveything and cut out anything that may be offensive and get people up in arms....thanks janet!!:( :p

personally i think its getting ridiculous
