No one owns John Williams. Ever.
I do really like Howard Shore but some of Williams' scores are absolutely unbelievable.

I would say Shore, but Williams' work on Catch Me If You Can made me vote both. Oh, and didn't he do somethng....like...Star Wars?;)

I'd say Williams, Shore, Elfman and Zimmer are the best soundtrack composers right now.

The only problem w/Elfman is there's not much variation in his scores. He is a talented composer, but if you've heard one of his scores you pretty much heard them all.

What about James Horner? He did write Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, and, although not always considered a true blessing, Titanic.
