Bottom 50%.. but I'm probably at the upper end of that bottom 50%.. so I think I'm doing alright.

I don't know why people keep wanting to diss on people about their income on here. This is a tech forum where some of the leaders, company owners, top tech guys visit. Some people who helped build the industry or at least been there since the beginning. People who went to years and years of college or even helped create standards. It's like being on a surgeons forums and coming on and going "ohhh yeahhhh suuuure you all make more than 50k sure buddy!" See how dumb that sounds?
So what you're saying is that TridenT is pretty much a cross between Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg? I knew it!

I'm in the lower 50% but the upper half of the lower 50%. For the kind of expenses I have (not too much really) I'm doing just fine. No complaints here :) regarding my income anyway, I have plenty of complaints on how my tax dollars are wasted

The chart appears to be for individual earners, not households, something to keep in mind. Also, it is not clear whether capital gains are included in earnings. This could change the income and taxes paid percentages though probably have little effect on the median or quartile thresholds.

I noticed part of that article mentioned "nearly 50 million Americans struggled at some point in 2008 to get enough to eat"...really? the only people I know in that financial condition appear that they could afford to miss a meal or ten

Well, I'll go ahead and be the first douche bag ATOTer to say they made 100,000+ this year. Its funny, when I first joined I thought everyone saying that was a douchebag or a liar, but here I am in my first full year out of college and I made $110,600 although that is on 3000+ hours so it isn't nearly as impressive as it could be. I doubt I will make that much again in the next several years.

I've made little enough to be in the bottom 50%, though I'm in school so it doesn't really matter.

these numbers should at least be localized for regions, the salary (and cost of living) ranges are way too low in CA

Let's kill the bottom 50% people because they're only paying 3% of the taxes.

P.S. Am I doin' it right?! :awe:

Bad idea.

Which one of you top 50% people willing to scrub toilets & bag groceries for a sub par living?

Anyone else the slightest bit concerned that the top 50% earn 88% of all income compared to only 12% for the bottom 50%? I understand that there's always going to be some inequity, but holy shit a disparity that large is alarming.
