How would you react if your kid was stealing your packs of cigarettes?

I'm just curious....i know it's not entirely right, but i snoop around in my dad's jacket, bag, suit, pants (when they're off), etc, and i take his cigarettes...he's been lying to us for many years about him not smoking, but he does....my younger brother doesn't even know. either way, i steal his cigg's and stash them into empty boxes until the next day....then they go down the toilet.

for those parents here who smoke, how would u react if ur 15 y/o son/doughter started stealing your cigg's by packs at a time, like 4 or 5 packs...sometimes entire cartons.

i found 5 packs in his bag 2day...the day before he goes to oklahoma

How did you think a lot of kids start smoking?

I'm guessing 90% of the first cig. a kid has is jacked from his parents.. or his/her friend jacked it from their parents.


I'd be pissed off if my imaginary kids were ripping me off, because they aren't exactly cheap anymore

i did...on many occasions. it's also even worse for him, cuz he has diabetes, and it raises your blood sugar when u smoke somehow

last time i cought him smoking, i confronted him, and he said it was a little stress thing, and he did it like once or twice a week....but he's going away to oklahoma 2morrow, and i found 5 packs for the trip

yeah, you stealing his cigarettes will just mean hes going to buy more, since he obviously doesn't get the hint that you want him to quit.

Good idea, send him the message that you want him to stop. Right now its vague. You could want him to stop or a more plausible situation is that you're a smoker and you're stealing his cigs.

Anyway, my mom used to smoke when I was young, but I knew so I never had to go behind their back and take their cigs from them. But honestly, I don't think it's your business to snoop and take, but since you have, you should show concern to your father about the cigs, but don't force him to stop smoking. It's his choice to start, and to stop, you can only influence him, but ultimately, it's up to him.

i did confront him....and the thing that just pisses me off, is we're in a sort of financial hardship right now...we can't buy simple things sometimes cuz we're saving money...yet he goes out and buys those $60 packs of smokes....and obviously he smokes about 1-2 packs each day

You flushing them down the toilet really doesn't help. It just makes him go buy some more cigarettes. You're better off spending your own money and buying those nicotine gums

your father is a grown man. if he wants to smoke, regardless of how you feel, thats his decision. since youve already confronted him about it, and he continues to do it, then let him be and quit wasting his money (you think he doesnt just go and immediately buy another pack?). respect his decision and be grateful he respects you enough to keep it out of your face.

dont tell your mother. im sure she already knows anyway and its been discussed to death.

besides, you dont snitch on your pops unless hes beating on the family, or cheating on your mother with woman that lacks a hot daughter.
