My first play through (about 75% done) has taken around 50 hours so far; and they have been very entertaining (I think the story telling is superb - but this is a game not a movie or book. When i reflect on the game I see quite a few issues with the 'game' portion including the following:

linear maps (some of them are very large; such as the path to the mountain top); but it occurred to me that none of them have mazes (deep roads could have had a few; but ...); none of them have hidden rooms (or at least I havent' found any yet); there are no pick locks; no ability to search; classes are relatively simple; combat is a mishmash (of the issues i listed this one is the most open to debate); there are very few puzzles (the most complicated being the 'ghost' bridge to the ashes; but if we ignore that puzzle I don't believe there were any others); most choices are correctable (such as charm usage).

When I played bg2 and ice wind-dale or even Arx Fatalis I don't remember the mazes being so linear. Bad memory or is Dungeon Dragon actually 'dumbed' down ? All of these games seemed a bit more complex; though the graphics and story telling aspects might not have been as good.

This is the first game in a long time I decided to play more than once. -- Hell, it's been a while since I even finished a game.

6/10. It was above-average, but it is unlikely I would play through it again.

Couldn't this post have gone in the massive, ongoing Dragon Age: Origins discussion thread?

It isn't perfect, but it's the best game I've played in a long time. I'd go with a 15/10 using the scale that Gamespot or IGN is always giving out 8's and 9's on, but without comparing it to other games I'd give it a 9/10.

I just bought this game. It is very engaging and the story line is drawing me in. Mass Effect was the last RPG I've played. The combat is the only thing that is perplexing for me on this game so far. But I am enjoying it. I must read the instructions better I suppose for the combat portions, spells and what works better with what.

How does DA:O play on that P60 vanilla? ^_^

A solid 7-8 based on the sum of its parts. If you prefer more story and less action overall, then it will notch up to a 9ish. If you prefer more action and less story, then it will move down to a solid 6ish. Either way, it is worth the 35 or so hours I took to beat it, and i'm looking forward to an official expansion/sequel.

7.5/10

I intend to replay it several times, and it is a very rare thing for me to replay a campaign more then once.

The best things about the game is the combat and all NPC dialogue is voice acted, and done well to boot which adds immensely to immersion.

The worst thing about the game is how linear it is most of the time. Any open area is small, and any time you have to travel in-game you are lead along a narrow path with the odd narrow path braching off leading to a dead end or back to the main path. I hope that mod(s) will be released that will expand the various levels so you do not feel like you are being lead around on a leash.

Very good, one of the best games I've played as far as total immersion. Still relatively new to it, but it seems like it could be a very long game if you chose to do all the side quests.

I'm enjoying it. Only problem is that I finished NWN2 not that long ago, and this game is a damn near copy it seems. Same set pieces, religion, and everything.

OVER 9000! If you take internet review inflation into account. Otherwise mid to high 80s if you're willing to ignore the retarded dlc scheme they have going (mid 70s otherwise).

I'm surprised I haven't gotten flamed for giving it a 6/10, which is above average, but most game forumers cry when their favorite game only gets an 8/10 (which "suxX0rs!") instead of a 9/10 (okay but not 10/10!) or 10/10 (because any game that isn't a 10/10 SUX!).

😉

I really ennjoyed it. It does have a few flaws though. Probably 8.5/10.

Mages are overpowered (or perhaps warriors underpowered...) and although your companions are interesting, I find you are very limited in your choice of them if you want to take an evil path.

It's not for everyone that's for sure, I actually understand why some people would simply hate it. I for one loved it, and finished it three times so far (three different Origins). I intend to complete all Origins and eventually to try it without switching to Easy difficulty a single time, since I keep dying left and right as soon as I put it on Normal... but that's because I barely use any mages during my playthrough. I would rate it a solid 8.5/10 overall. I must say that I preferred Mass Effect however, but I am biased, perhaps, since I am just more into science-fiction stuff than fantasy.

Yea, I remember some number of years ago pc gamer (the actual magazine) gave some random game a low 80s score or something, and the developers sent them angry letters about the low score. PC gamer then wrote up an article basicly slapping them back into reality about what they score system meant... Sigh, I almost miss the days of noncorporate backed reviews.

8.5/10.

Liked the story and enjoyed the game overall. Combat was okay but kind of easy towards the end. I finished it once and that's pretty much going to be it since it was mainly the story that kept me in it. I thought about going back to unlock more achievements but I don't think that's going to happen.

My min-max nature kind of ruined the party dynamics, though. Since you need a tank/healer/rogue and the whole mages are way overpowered bit, my party was pretty fixed so I couldn't explore the banter of the some of the other companions.

I liked the story slightly more in Uncharted 2, but the gameplay was better here. I did prefer the Mass Effect universe also but that's my preference for sci-fi.

Unlike many, I prefer linear games with a very solid story. Never could finish sandbox games like Fallout 3, GTA4, Oblivion, etc.

I am about 3/4 of the way finished, after finding the subtitles option and being able to read the dialoge instead of listening to it i'll give it a 7.5 out fo 10.

8/10

I hope I don't spoil the fun, but I think the final battles were a very poor climax compared to the buildup, which was much more intense and promising.
It felt very rushed.

Otherwise, it would have been 9/10 easily, if not more.

Fantastic game, regardless. Currently in my second run. 😀

Just finished my first run this weekend, I give it a 8/10 overall.

Ending felt rushed for me as well, and a little weak. Got some greater spirit balms? Ok you win...The High Dragon was tougher for me by a long shot.

Playing again as a dwarf rogue and going full "dick" on all dialogue.

I bought it on Steam on Friday since it was on sale but I haven't had a chance to play it since I am focused on finishing Assassins Creed 2 right now. That will likely be the next game I play so I will try to give my review of it in the next week or two.
