I recently changed banks and went to a credit union because my local bank sucks... I left a couple hundred bucks in the account in case any automatic withdrawals I have set up did not clear yet.

Well Aug 5 I got a leter thast said my account was 6.33 overdrawn for 30 days and please at least bring the balance up to zero. Ok I know this was my fault because I was not keeping on top of that account anymore. I got paid Aug 7th and I deposited enough to satisfy the account and told the teller to close the account.I filed the receipt in my file cabninet. I also made a point to call the person at the bank who sent me the love letter to notify them that I satisfied the account but all I got was voice mail.

Aug 19 I receive a love letter from my old bank for 6.33 threating to send me to a collection agency. That same day i get a letter from a collection agency stamped AUG 12 threatening me again to take me to court and report me to the credit bereau!

Oh BTW, I have excellent credit now that I had to fight for after my Divorce.

What would you do if this happened to you?

I will update with what i did later ;)

Get a hold of the asshole at the bank that did it to you.

And do whatever you feel like.

What I would do - is take the statement that had me paying $6.33 on August 5th, photocopy it along with the close of account papers and mail it back to both the bank and collection agency...

Done deal. Proof in their hand.
