How would YOU go about doing this?

This past weekend, i went out of town (to Windsor, from Detroit area) for a short weekend get-a-way.
I had made a reservation via the Hilton hotline. The reservation was from march 1st to the 2nd. When i went to check in, they said they did not have my reservation for that night, but for the night before. I had actually spoken with a real human being and they had confirmed the date i requested earlier. So, upon arriving, they gave me a hard time saying they were booked up. The front desk finally, after much procrastination, gave me a smoking room that was only used for overflow. They room, needless to say, left much to be desired. There were chunks gouged out of the carpet and some of the furniture was torn/ripped. I went back to the front desk and asked for my money back, but they didn't want to do that. I just sucked it up and tried to have a nice evening in spite of that.

Then, I come back to work today and find out my boss sent the hotel a request for them to charge her with our full dinner, drinks, etc for my birthday present. She faxed them her cc info and d/l per their request also with a short note to wish me a happy birthday. Not once durring my stay did they even metion that this was available for me.

So my question to you guys is this:
How would you go about complaining to Hilton regarding this matter? what would you say and what would you request to be done right now. I want to call the general manager and tell him about the wole mess, but i am not sure where to start and what to say.

I want to make this known because i feel they completely disregarded me, as the customer.

damn that really blows i'de give em a piece of my mind, but i doubt itll make any difference

whew baby you got the sh!t on this one. . .

There is not much you can do but start to write a formal letter stating you would like a refund for the service there. If that does not work, take it up a notch and thretten to involve a lawyer. If that does not work, hire a public attorny to hear your case, and make this swift so it does not cause you money, then you could sue them 🙂 j/k

but you get the idea. . .get on your computer here and start a letter. . .

Find the "comments and complaints" email address off of their website (I'm sure they have one).

Then write:

To Whom it may concern:

<slightly modified cut and paste from post>

I understand that you may have been busy, but I feel the situation could have been handled more professionally.

Thank you,

Let them respond to this and see what they say. Don't come off as a whiny person as that will just get the other person (who probably had nothing to do with your situation) angry.

A polite, but firmly peeved, letter written directly to the attention of the CEO of the company would be my move. I've heard plenty of examples on the Clark Howard consumer radio show where this actually got results. No guarantees obviously, but if I'm gonna complain I'm going straight to the TOP! Be sure to let them know you're complaining on "consumer and travel oriented websites" too, and of course telling all your friends and coworkers how horribly you were treated by Hilton. Good luck!

Complain to the hotel manager, if they do nothing then write a formal, nasty letter detailing the entire experience to the coporate headquarters. Make sure to include the names everyone you spoke to. Make sure you ask what they are going to do to rectify this situation. Make sure you mention you are on a buisness trip. My father-in-law excels at these types of letters. Being a buisness traveller they just screwed, someone should start kissing your @ss after they get the letter.

First, don't start talking to anyone until you have a high level manager. Then start explaining the situation. Ask him/her if this is how the hotel normally operates. Ask him/her what they think the best solution is. If their offer to recomp is up to snuff tell them what you want.

As far as your boss's gift, you should give him/her a thank you note expressing your thanks. Sounds like you are on good terms with your boss, so tell them that the hotel had screwed up everythjing. My concern would be that the hotel charged your boss for something.

thank you guys for your imput. i like all of your ideas...even the stink bomb one!😉 i thikn i will go to the top and call as well as writing a stongly worded letter!

Thanks
Rebecca
