.....you found out one of your friends(50ish yr old male) was involved in statutory rape charges with a 16 year old boy?

All I have to say is my friends and I used to go hiking with this guy when I was in high school... He was an awesome friend, but never made any sexual advances toward me. I did assume he was gay, but I'm not a homophobe... I really feel sorry for the guy because he was a great role model despite the mistake he made. (should have at least gone after other peeeps his own age)

Do me a favor and pray for this guy if that's not some kind of Christian contradiction. I always read articles about stuff like this and always expect the person convicted to be a total scum bag. This guy is truly one of the most amazing people I've ever met.

Please no flaming....I'm really shocked.

I would think twice about that friendship. But then again, it must be tough since you've been friends for a long time.

I'd look at the facts and then make my decision.

I haven't spoken to him in about 4 years....I moved 250 miles away. I found out about it because he admitted to it. I read it in the paper. :(

Once again, I still consider him a good friend even though these circumstances came up. I just hate to see that happen to him at this point in his life... I mean, he's accomplished a lot...it sucks to end up losing cash to the courts, ruining a kid's life, and getting 6 years.

Well, everyone makes bad decisions in life - some worse than other.

what exactly suggests he's homosexual?

Probably the having sex with other men.

:Q

A man?

Well, I'm pretty sure it's not considered homosexual if a man has sex with a woman, so yeah, a man.

The whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing doesn't mean much to you guys, does it...

very true.

I know that everyone has done things that are immoral and illegal. I hate what your friend did, but he deserves forgiveness. I will pray for your friend. I will pray that he is forgiven, and also that he finds the right way to live.

The real question isn't if the friend is gay, if the event really happened, or if you should pray... Its if God actually exists...
