How would you feel if your parents forgot your birthday?

Just curious... I'm 26 now, so obviously the whole "It's my Birthday!!" fun has worn off over time... But i've now spoken to my parents twice today, and they have yet to mention the glorious moment that occurred on April 5, 1981... 26 years ago to the day...

There is a reason 16 Candles didn't star a 26 year old. Cut the umbillical cord, McGee.

I forgot my dad's this year and felt horrible. But on the flipside, probably wouldn't mind all that much. I'm not a big birthday guy.

To be honest, i was hurt when my dad did not even say happy birthday to me one year. He called and just never even mentioned it.
It is not like i wanted him to get all excited about it or anything, but he is my dad damnit... say happy birthday to your little girl!!! :|

So, if you are hurt, i know how you feel, perhaps you should mention it to them if they call back again, or if they call you tomorrow... just say something like, "wow, i had a crappy birthday yesterday" and see if they say anything.

but... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! :)

I'm 32 years old and my mother still calls me every birthday...always starts singing Happy Birthday as soon as I say hello. It's kind of a running joke now but it's the kind of thing I'll miss when she's gone. My sister has also gotten in on the act the past couple years calling a couple hours after my mom to sing. :)

Don't mention it and reap the benefits of their guilt when they realize they forgot it. :p

I'd probably be hurt if my parents forgot about mine. It shouldn't be a big deal, but it kind of is.

And happy birthday! :gift:

Not big on birthdays personally, but I can see why it would bother people...Happy Birthday!

I haven't forgotten it yet, but I suspect it's only a matter of time before I do.

It's really not that big of a deal. At this point I usually just treat myself to a few drinks, a cigar and some hours of quiet introspection.

Happy B-day Aphex. :D

There isn't much excuse for forgetting your parents or childrens birthdays.
Really, how hard is it to make a phone call, write a little card, or just show up for a drink and a chat?

It's obvious many people on this forum must have weird relationships with their stonecold soul parents.

My mom does the same thing :D My grandparents do as well. My brother wouldn't sing for anything, so all I get is a, "Happy birthday man" whenever I talk to him.

It's nice though. As you said, it's one of those little things that you can appreciate.

My mom and dad called me this morning to wish me happy 30th birthday. I guess I'd be upset if they forgot. They stopped giving me birthday presents awhile ago, but that's ok with me. Happy Birthday!

It pretty much even out since I forgot their birthday all the time. :) Hell, on some years I even forgot my own birthday. If you ask me what my brothers' birthday are, you will get a blank stare from me. Pretty much told you how much I/we care about birthday.

It has happened to me, my folks forgot two years in a row. I don't make a big deal out of birthdays and don't expect anyone else to either, so I really didn't care when they forgot to wish me a happy birthday.
