I've had way too many sweet tarts or spree or something. Feeling strangely good... anyway

How would you describe the color blue to a person who has been blind all their life?

No smartass answers (I know this is ATOT, and that may be a bit much to ask) like 0,0,255 :p

I believe there was a similar thread to this a few months ago, but I can't find it anywhere.

I think that's what you're remembering.

Think of words that blue gives the feeling of.

Cool. Calm. Sometimes sad or somber. Not very energetic.

Interesting question actually -- in Western culture the color has different associations in different contexts, to take a quick st-b at it without peeking at others' answers:

- for objects and dark-hued light, it implies coolness, wetness, soothing,
- for flame and bright-hued light, it implies the most intense heat
- for living things it implies sickness, death, decay (zombie!!!)

I'd describe the color using these associations with their contexts, and point out this is only for Western culture.

Ok. How about Red, purple, green, white, orange, or any other color for that matter.
red is opposite of blue in the contexts above, except living things where it's intense emotions or a fever sickness.

Punch him in the face real hard. Ask him if he is seeing any colors yet. :p

If not, put your hand over his mouth and tell him that's what color his face is turning. :D

Give him LSD and he'll be able to taste it.. I'm not kidding. You can hear sweet, smell bright, touch loud, and taste blue..

I suppose the same problem exists with persons that are completly color blind.
