How would you defend yourself against a bear with only a pocketknife?

bears front legs are shorter than their back legs, going down a steep hill with the bear chasing you would cause the bear to tumble. then run back up the hill after the bear rolls past you. get out your pocket knife cut down a redwood and whittle a baseball bat out of it to beat the bear to death with when he gets back to the top of the hill.

Use the pocketknife to carve up some logs and fashion them into a crude fort. Outside the fort would be a spike pit that I built with my ever so trusty pocket knife. Inside the fort, I'd have a dozen or so spears that I'd st@b the bastard with (if the spike pit didn't get him) compliments of my wonderful pocket knife. Let's see some bear beat that.
