How would you cook this meat?

I saw this at Costco yesterday, seemed cheap enough, could not resist. How would you cook it? I assumed it was like cooking a pot roast in the oven with carrots and potatoes n shit, but it looks more like its for BBQ beef? Which is actually better IMO. Anyways, how would you cook it? I think I am going to cook it for dinner today! I was thinking maybe smoke it on the charcoal grill for a few minutes at very low temperature over wood chips, lid on, just to get it the awesome smoked flavor, then wrap it up in aluminum foil and move it to the inside oven at a study temperature to finish it off. But I have no clue really, any help appreciated!

damn. tri tip is over $10 a lb? this used to be a cheap cut.
All the meat is more expensive now from what I can tell, I used to be able to hold out and get ground beef at $2-3lb on sale, but now seems the best I can normally do is $4.50/lb.

We don't buy much anymore, put 100 lb of turkey and chicken in the freezer in the fall. have rabbits ready to cull in 2 weeks. and will have lambs to add next fall.

Tri tip is slowly making it's way out of california. Generally I've always grilled it at low heat for many hours and then sliced it after cooking. Great to make sandwiches with but also just as steak bites.

luls its been a meat and potatoes Midwest thing for maybe a century, but sure, its making its way out of CA.

1. Season meat with favorite seasoning.
2. Grill on charcoal or pellet grill at 225° until it is about 5-10° below desired temp, remove, seal in foil.
3. Raise grill temp to 500° or use high heat with cast iron and butter.
4. Return steak to sear on all sides.
5. Remove and LET IT REST FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES!!!
6. Slice against grain and serve.
