How would this do in S & H

I just read about something interesting.

A server featuring up to 336 Transmeta Crusoe 600 Mhz processors in one 19" rack
It's called RLX System 324 and should be sold by IBM eventually.
I don't know how well the Crusoe processor does at seti but with 336 ???? processsors.

WHAUUU

If only every CPU spits out 2 WU's a day that would amount to ( Calculating )
2 x 336 = 672 WU's A DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would certainly want one for my birthday 😉

Anyone outthere know of any running S & H on a Crusoe 600 MHZ ???

Could be interesting.

Wow, that would be an amazing crackrack, it would be expensive as hell though, but if SETI was really THAT important to you... 🙂

Very, very few people who publically benchmark have had a chance to get their hands on transmetta chips. This is because their performance is not top notch - a 600mhz Crusoe is not as fast as an equally clocked P3, generally speaking. Their claim to fame is their "low power consumption" and other featuers which haven't been exploited yet.

I'm somewhat worried about it's performance in some respects, because it has only a scalar FPU (only one FPU instruction per clock). Also, the L1/L2 bandwidth is unknown, and the L2/main memory bandwidth is partially used up due to the translation cache (16Mb). But, 336 CPUs would be a good thing, no matter what 🙂
