How would this cheap KVM switch work for my setup?

Link to KVM switch

I currently run a dual monitor setup with my main system (a 19" CRT + 17" CRT on a Gainward GF4 Ti4200). I took down my secondary system and want to be able to use a single KB and mouse to use both.

I plan on using the 17" monitor to run as the display for the secondary system. As far as my mouse goes, I use a MX500 and run it on the PS/2 port, so I don't see any problems there.

The only potential problem I can see is the refresh rate through the switch. It says it can support a resolution of 2048x1536 at 65Hz. Does that imply that the refresh rate is locked at 65Hz regardless of the resolution I use?

Anyone else use this particular switch? Any thoughts, suggestions, etc. are, of course, gladly welcome... :)

I'm using a 4-port KVM for my 3 desktop systems I have running. I never used that KVM that you are asking about so I can't say too much. You might want to look on Newegg.com for some KVM switches. That is where I bought my 4-port from and I really like it alot. The KVM I use says nothing about a refresh limit in the manual. I even looked on the companys web site and still nothing. I would think there would be one but I seen nothing about one.

I had no idea that Newegg carried these types of switches...well, at least I know where I will be ordering it from. :)

I checked on a similar switch from Belkin Components and it also gives the refresh rate at 65Hz ($35). Interesting enough, the next higher model lists the refresh rate at 85Hz ($55). IMHO, the 85Hz refresh rate is worth the extra cash.

I have never used a switch, but why would it not just act as a simple "pass-thru" device? ie, 85Hz coming in should be 85Hz going out...is that right?
