Odd question that i thought of in the shower today. How would life be different if our skin wasn't waterproof?

Our skin isn't waterproof. Ever wonder why your fingers get all puckered when you stay in the water too long? It's because your skin is soaking up the water.

Water resistant, yes. Waterproof, no.

Not necessarily... worms don't have waterproof skin, and they're not extinct...

technicality, technicality... okay fine... how would life be different if our skin was much less water resistant ?

I'll assume you mean not washable...since humans are 80% water submersing us doesn't really hurt us much...unless you get water in your lungs water can't really hurt you....

If we weren't washable, it probably wouldn't matter much.
We'd all just smell more, but since we'd all smell we wouldn't notice it.

I think amore interesting question would be, how would we write if we hadn't evolved with opposable thumbs?
