How would one get to be on a bomb squad?

Well, it definately helps if you join the military to learn about demolitions.

Police departments in major metropolitan areas send qualified personnell to the appropriate schools. If you want to be on a bomb squad it would help if you became a cop first.

There must be some classes or something that could take the place of having military experience (which I couldn't do even if I wanted to for medical reasons).
