cable modem->PC1->router->PC2/3/4/5/etc
A game i play doesnt let you host when your behind a NAT router(some messed up coding in the game), so i wanted to host with PC1 then pass it to the router which will then pass it into PC2(i dont have PC3/4/5). I know how to network PCs together but never tried passing the internet connection through a PC to another. I want to be able to connect to the internet with my 2nd PC. Sorry for the lack of terminology i dunno too much about networking yet. I would skip the router and connect PCs together but i dont have a crossover or straight through long enough(forgot which one it is).

O i also have 2 nics so thats not a problem but are there some that only support windows 98 and not 2000? The nic i have was stripped from a friends HP computer and the last time i tried to use it it didnt work on windows 2000.

switch? Is there a reason i have to use a switch? i only have a router thats why, and this wont be a permanent setup. By enabling ICS will be able to connect to the internet with the 2nd pc? Was that all? i havent tried this setup yet.

Does your router have a switch built in? If it does you should just be able to use that. Daisy chaining more than one pc would most likly be hasslesome and than all the pc's would need to be on for the last one to have internet access.

O no i wasnt going to daisy chain the PCs. Basically my setup right now is:
cable modem -> router (splits to 4 ports)-> PC1 on P1 and PC2 on P2

What i want to do is stick PC1 in between the cable modem and router.
cable modem -> PC1 -> router (splits to 4 ports)-> PC2 on P1, PC3 on P2, PC4 on P3, and PC5 on P4. (I actually only have 2 PCs and 345 are used for examples.

It does have a switch built in but i dont know how i would turn it into a switch. Netgear RP114

The reason i cant host with the router is b/c the computers hooked up to the router have the LAN ip 192.186.0.2/3/4etc and the game hosts using the LAN ip and when someone tries to connect they time out. WINSOCK error 10060. Something with the games coding as far as i know from my research.
